Welcome to The Big Picture Team, Ben!

Ben spent the last 7 years working as a contract Director/Producer/Designer/Editor (what he refers to as a slashy) specializing in high quality films and animations for broadcast and corporate videos. Some of his clients included the Wall Street Journal, Hard Rock Café and others. And for over 3 years he was the Creative Director and Editor of “Warriors Weekly,” a behind-the-scenes TV show for the Golden State Warriors. He is one of those rare Bay Area natives and enjoys the combination of great weather, outdoor activities and people here in NorCal. His wife, Jaime, is awesome and is expecting a little one in July. Ben’s looking forward to combining his love of creating visual stories and working here at the Big Picture.  We are so excited to have him on our team!

The story of Recycling in San Francisco

San Francisco is a leader in being “green” in every way.  From Green technology companies to seeking out organic foods to recycling and waste management, you
can count on San Franciscans to always be looking forward.  It’s still impressive, however, that in San Francisco over 80% of waste is recycled, reused, restored, and does not make it to the landfill.  That is an impressive feat that involves public policy, public participation and successful planning and logistics in waste management.

We are proud to present to you this program we created, which aired on CBS and ABC on Sunday,  showing exactly what goes in to all the recycling in San Francisco, the Greenest city in America.

Recycling in America’s Greenest City

Did you know that 80% of solid waste in San Francisco is being diverted from landfills?  80% of San Francisco’s waste is being recycled, repurposed, and composted.   It’s no wonder that San francisco has built a reputation as the Greenest City in America.

The Big Picture is proud to have put together this program on Recycling in San Francisco that will be publicly broadcast at the following times…  on Earth Day, no less!  Tune in:

Sunday 9:30am – 10:00am CBS KPIX channel 5

Sunday 3:00pm – 3:30pm ABC 7

Ski-in/Ski Out Starbucks

With the snow on the slopes and sunshine in the sky, our producer/editor Willow headed up to Squaw Valley for the weekend.  Not only did she have a great time carving down the mountain, she was the first of the Big Pic clan to visit the world’s first ski in/ ski out Starbucks and we must admit we’re a little jealous…

Celebriducks!

As we prepare for this year’s Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Award programs we find that we can’t help but get into the entrepreneurial spirit. Yesterday, George and Kristen spent a few hours with Celebriduck creator Craig Wolfe marveling at his creations. Who would have thought collectable celebrity rubber ducks fashioned to look like icons of music, film, sports and history would have such a following? Well we are part of that following, we love the ducks and we love Craig’s story- he truly embodies what is means to be an entrepreneur. Click here to check out the Celebriducks website to learn more about Craig, the awesome collection of celebrity ducks and his latest venture- bringing the rubber duck business back to The United States.

A Fruitful Future for Earthbound Farm

Office foodies Alona, Kristen and Willow have long been educating the office on the importance of organic produce.  After our October shoot at Earthbound Farm most of us at The Big Picture have jumped on the organic train too. We were so excited to find out our friends at Earthbound Farm have formally launched a fruit division. Now organic fruit will be easier to get our hands on and because Earthbound Farm is already a leader in organic salad, we have no doubt this new division will be just as fruitful!
