DemandTec Retail Challenge

DemandTec is an analytical software tool that allows retailers to stay up to date on, and modify, their pricing structure using real time data. As part of their corporate citizenship program they have created the DemandTec Retail Challenge, which allows high school students the opportunity to compete against each other as analysts using the DemandTec software.  Several qualifying students are flown to New York City each year and the winners of the challenge receive scolarship funds and an opportunity to ring the bell at the New York Stock Exchange.

We are proud sponsors of this program, and we’d like to share the video from last year’s challenge with you.  Click the image below to be taken to the video hosted on DemandTec’s website:

Pacific Grove Triathlon

Two members of our team at The Big Picture (Abel Machado and Mike Peters) participated in the Pacific Grove Triathlon last weekend in Monterey, CA.  They were part of a three person relay.  Abel did the 40k bike ride (a windy run up and down the  Monterey coast) and Mike did the 1.5k swim (a unique “Kelp Crawl” through the 55 degree, hopefully not shark infested water).  They both love the challenge of competing and look forward to their next event.

Predilect – The Next Big Thing in Security Authentication

We are excited to present a video we have created for Predilect, a start-up driven by serial entrepreneur Jon Fisher. Predilect promises to present a technology that will replace question based security authentication, which  research has shown to be succeptible through data-mining.  It’s not very secure if your same security answers are stored with a variety of companies on servers with varying level of security.

We don’t know the answer, but we are intrigued!

Check out the teaser video that we have created for them, and tune in as the Predilect story unfolds.
