SanDisk Campus Tour

SanDisk Corporation, one of our many long term clients, has recently opened up their new corporate headquarters in Milpitas. The new building has plenty to see and admire. The translucent façade leads employees and guests into the building where a beautiful open lobby awaits. Inside, you will find a historical timeline of the company and innovations that SanDisk led. The more open work space not only looks appealing, but is designed to promote collaboration and teaming between all departments. Finally, the new state of the art amphitheater provides a great place to hold company meetings. Please take a look at some of the photos from our recent shoot there. We are currently working on a Campus tour video and corporate b-roll and will post that when they are done.

SpikeTV TombRaider Release Special

On March 5th, Crystal Dynamics released the highly anticipated reimagining of Tomb Raider. One of the great features of the game is the score. Jason Graves created “The Instrument” out of items he found in his home to score the first 15 minutes of the game! We recently filmed an interview with Jason and Geoff Keighly for this Tomb Raider special. In addition to this interview, we conducted several interviews at the Crystal Dynamics office. The show aired on Tuesday March 5th at 12.35am on SpikeTV, but is now available online: TombRaider – The Final Hours

Our Friend Rita Moreno Performs at the Presidential Inauguration 2013

For many years Rita Moreno and her family have been our close friends. In my time of need her late husband Lenny was at my side watching over me during heart surgery.  When we asked Rita to help support us in our work to seek help and funding for The Wells Fargo Center for the Arts she was there.  She has offered to MC a number of events from the Ernst and Young programs we sponsor to Education Foundation fund raisers we produce, to hosting the Red Cross PSA commercial.  Rita has always been there for us.  We are honored to be in the company of such a fine woman who is there for us whenever we ask her for help.  Today we are proud to see Rita recognized by our 44th President Barack Obama once again.  This time asked to perform for the president in honor of his second inauguration. Congratulations Rita!  And thank you for being such a great friend.

Check out her performance below.

The story of Recycling in San Francisco

San Francisco is a leader in being “green” in every way.  From Green technology companies to seeking out organic foods to recycling and waste management, you
can count on San Franciscans to always be looking forward.  It’s still impressive, however, that in San Francisco over 80% of waste is recycled, reused, restored, and does not make it to the landfill.  That is an impressive feat that involves public policy, public participation and successful planning and logistics in waste management.

We are proud to present to you this program we created, which aired on CBS and ABC on Sunday,  showing exactly what goes in to all the recycling in San Francisco, the Greenest city in America.

The Big Picture is proud to have put together this program on Recycling in San Francisco that will be publicly broadcast at the following times…  on Earth Day, no less!  Tune in:

Live at the Announcement of the Squaw Valley/Alpine Meadows Merge

Only hours ago it was announced that Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows Ski Resorts have merged. The Big Picture is thrilled to be responsible for the satellite uplink providing live coverage of this historic event! George and Abel are hard at work, maneuvering on chairlifts to get the best possible footage. With this announcement comes the exciting news that for a single lift ticket guests will now be able to enjoy over 6,000 skiable acres across eight mountain peaks with a top elevation of 9,000 feet! Not only will guests have access to greater skiable terrain, the merge also includes an improvement plan offering more amenities. Included in this plan is the promise of two new chairlifts, a new village restaurant and bar, a snow board demo and rental center, a day lodge and a family recreation center. We love summer but with this news we’re ready to trade in our flip flops for snow boots!

For more information about the merge click here.

The Coolest Talk Show You’ve Never Heard Of

After watching the success of such figures as Oprah, Dr.Phil, Maury and Ricki Lake, who hasn’t dreamed of hosting their own talk show? Luckily for George Lang this dream became a reality when he got the chance to host a talk show of his own.

Since nobody had anything to do during the day, like work or go to school, his early afternoon show was an obvious hit.  On a set they built themselves walked the likes of prominent community figures like the head of the library and the “how to keep your family safe” police officer you can see pictured below. Everyday George got to wear a flashy new tie sponsored by Ernst Ties, who of course got full credit. To lure in viewers the show had an amazing and exciting daily contest, whose terms we fail to remember. We couldn’t, however, forget what the grand prize was.  New potholders! A prize indicated beneath the Almanac sign on the set, but due to having no mail budget if you wanted them you had to come get them yourself. Memories like these help to reinstill the life old lesson of never forgetting where you came from.
