Live at the Announcement of the Squaw Valley/Alpine Meadows Merge

Only hours ago it was announced that Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows Ski Resorts have merged. The Big Picture is thrilled to be responsible for the satellite uplink providing live coverage of this historic event! George and Abel are hard at work, maneuvering on chairlifts to get the best possible footage. With this announcement comes the exciting news that for a single lift ticket guests will now be able to enjoy over 6,000 skiable acres across eight mountain peaks with a top elevation of 9,000 feet! Not only will guests have access to greater skiable terrain, the merge also includes an improvement plan offering more amenities. Included in this plan is the promise of two new chairlifts, a new village restaurant and bar, a snow board demo and rental center, a day lodge and a family recreation center. We love summer but with this news we’re ready to trade in our flip flops for snow boots!

For more information about the merge click here.

Sonos Android Controller Video

Sonos Android ControllerSonos is set to launch an Android app for their highly popular wireless sound and management system.  Below is the video we created to demonstrate how the app can control the music from either streaming music stations or your own computer hard drive and set to play in various rooms – it even has voice recognition!

This video was created with our talent and the product against a greenscreen, and post produced with an entirely virtual set!

George Lang risks life and limb for the perfect video

George Lang, our founder, President and resident DP is no stranger to adventure and perilous camera work.  He has taken footage underwater with sharks, dangling from a helicopter, in the line of fire in Rwanda – you could definitely throw around some adjectives here such as fearless, audacious, daring and also just plain nuts.

But lo and behold, we send him out to the Ice Rink in Union Square, and he comes back like this!

George-Sling George-BigKnee

Luckily we know that George can get the job done blindfolded and with his arms tied behind his back, so we aren’t too worried.

Take a look at the final piece that we did for Mammoth Mountain for the grand opening of the holiday Ice Rink at Union Square – featuring Woolly the Mammoth.  See if you can spot George skating by.

Twin Cities Police Department on the cutting edge with tamper-proof digital storage

Crime scene investigations have become more and more of an exact science.  The standards for proper evidence collection are raised higher on a daily basis, with challenges from both the courts and defense attorneys alike.

SanDisk has created the SDWorm card, a tamper-proof digital storage device that we created a video for to demonstrate how it protects law enforcement officers by guaranteeing the legitimacy of evidence.

The Twin Cities Police Authority of Larkspur, California worked with us on this to set up a crime scene and provide us with testimonials on how this product could be beneficial to them.  They are great people and we really enjoyed working with them.  But make no mistake, if you mess around they will have you in handcuffs!

Stay tuned for the final video, and click any of the pictures below to get to the flickr album with more great shots!

Peter Pan the Show – at Ferry Park in San Francisco

If you’ve been down to Ferry Park (across from the Ferry Building) in San Francisco as of late, you may have noticed a giant white tent.  And though you’d be right to stipulate that there is some kind of entertainment going on in there, I bet you haven’t imagined anywhere near the scope of it.

Peter Pan – The Show is in town, and inside that tent are flying actors and a 360 degree screen onto which background scenes are projected, giving a whole new meaning to fully immersive experience.

We had the pleasure of putting together an Electronic Press Kit for them, and we reveal some of the magic in this video.
