Rough Linen by Tricia Rose

Cherished Mum to Producer/Editor Claudia Lang, Tricia Rose has been creating lovely rough linen bedspreads, and the trend is kind of taking off.

She is featured today on the Apartment Therapy Design Showcase, click here to vote for her: http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/ny/bedroom/rough-linen-bedding-by-tricia-rose-design-showcase-2010-125838

Her website can be found here – http://roughlinen.com/press.html

A few words about her product:

There are so many influences on Rough Linen.I have always wanted to recreate the linens from my grandmother’s house in Scotland and from vintage textiles I found in France.  It took years of searching to discover the traditionally woven coarse linen fabric I use in my range of bedding.

I have always gravitated to natural fabrics: wool, cotton, linen. For years I lived near Ian Mankin’s iconic shop in Primrose Hill in London and loved every fabric he stocked, including a double-width linen sheeting now sadly discontinued. Ian’s natural weaves and stripes are timeless.

Working with beautiful materials has simplified my taste and complicated my life, because I am always looking for the definitive texture, or weave, or color. When I found this linen I recognized its beauty immediately, and as I work with it I appreciate its virtues more and more: easy care, relative stability, strength, straight grain, wonderful texture.

I always cut to the thread for accuracy and fold the fabric as precisely as origami before sewing so my minimal seaming is exact. I sew French seams on the horizontal for strength and neatness, and overcast raw seams. I use the selvedges whenever I can.

Gutermann thread, YKK invisible zippers, and the simplest buttons – but the search and the temptation goes on. I am still trying to find a finer textured wide linen sheeting here in the US, but no luck so far. One day.

4th of July at Louis M. Martini Winery

For the past 15 years, Louis M. Martini Winery has put on one of the most spectacular fireworks show in the Bay Area.

This show is a step above, starting with hors d’oeuvres and newly released wines, a family style dinner and finale the big show, which is choreographed to music that is playing throughout the winery garden and can be tuned into on a local radio station!

This is our favorite 4th of July event, and we’ve had the pleasure of shooting the fireworks show in HD.  Check out last years footage here!

The winery is located at 254, South St. Helena Highway (Hwy 29). Call 866-549-2582 for tickets. See you there?

Peter Pan the Show – at Ferry Park in San Francisco

If you’ve been down to Ferry Park (across from the Ferry Building) in San Francisco as of late, you may have noticed a giant white tent.  And though you’d be right to stipulate that there is some kind of entertainment going on in there, I bet you haven’t imagined anywhere near the scope of it.

Peter Pan – The Show is in town, and inside that tent are flying actors and a 360 degree screen onto which background scenes are projected, giving a whole new meaning to fully immersive experience.

We had the pleasure of putting together an Electronic Press Kit for them, and we reveal some of the magic in this video.

Pablo Cruise – Memorial Day Concert

A lot of famous rockstars live in Marin and the San Francisco North Bay, and we are very fortunate to intimately know Pablo Cruise.  They are good old friends of George Lang’s, and various members stop by the office barbeques and we even get Cory Lerios to score for us when we need music that has beauty, drama, and power in one of our videos.

So it’s a sad day today to note that original bassist/vocalist Bud Cockrell passed away yesterday.  In honor of his memory, the guys are going to get together for a special concert event up at Rancho Nicasio on May 31st for a special tribute day of stories and songs.

Rancho Nicasio is west of 101 north at the Lucas Valley turn off in San Rafael, about a half hour from that turn off.   Pretty simple and a beautiful ride through the redwoods, for those of you that have never been there.   They have a great menu and it’s a good place to cut loose.  They are going to play at 4:00 pm.  You can call to make a reservation at  415-662-2219.

And, you’re urged to check out   www.Budcockrell.com to see some of the letters people have written in and some of Bud’s music is there to hear.  It’s really great stuff.

Here is a link to what the show is about, do tune in tomorrow at 9pm central on CW:  http://www.cwtv.com/shows/fly-girls

Beach Blanket Babylon – San Francisco Musical Comedy Show

Darlings, if you didn’t know before… well you are about to.  Beach Blanket Babylon is America’s longest running musical, and it is so much more than that.  Keep a tissue handy for tears of hilarity might ensue.

The show is a musical comedy extravaganza filled with political satire and current news spoofs, and it is flawless and fabulous. (Scroll to the bottom for examples!)  We had the great fortune of shooting a little video spot with the very talented Tammy Nelson in her giant animatronic San Francisco skyline hat.   Seeing her belt out a few lines of song was a great display of the performance power that each cast member has.

If you have never seen this show, you must!  Here are some great pictures (courtesy of their website, photos by Rick Markovich).
